UNM Rates Pupils Tops

Highland speech students took four excellent ratings at the Annual University Speech Festival held April 3 and 4. They were: Gary Bruton, debate and extemporaneous speaking; John Williams, discussion, and Carolyn Montgomery, debate.

The two day festival included all New Mexico High schools. Students presented their contest entries on both Friday and Saturday with different judges on each day. Winners of excellent ceitificates were announced

at the Final Assembly on Saturday. Other ratings will be sent to the high schools at a later date. One of the highlights of the festival was a banquet held at the Mesa Vista Dorm on Friday evening.

Other Highland students who participated in the contest were: Martin Fry, Beth James, Bob Henderson, Dick Foster, Bob Rushmand and Reinhart Quelle

The Future Teachers of America unit at Highland High has chosen its officers for 1958-1959.
